From Local Pints to Munich: Planning an Oktoberfest Group Trip for 2027.
By Lori Crittenden, Owner & Group Travel Specialist, Saltwater Travel Company | Lincoln, California

Some of the best evenings start with good friends, a favorite brewery, and a conversation about where you should all go together.
If your group enjoys gathering at breweries and tap houses around Lincoln, Roseville, and Placer County, imagine taking that tradition to Munich. A shared table, Bavarian food, live music, and a toast in an Oktoberfest tent could become the experience you’re still talking about years later.
Munich’s Oktoberfest will take place September 18–October 3, 2027. That makes now a good time to start turning “we should go someday” into a thoughtfully planned group adventure.
Why Oktoberfest Works for a Group Trip
Oktoberfest gives your trip a shared centerpiece, but the vacation can reflect much more than a love of beer.
You might bring together longtime friends, celebrate a milestone birthday, or travel with people you know through a local brewery or tap house. Around your Oktoberfest visit, we can build an itinerary with neighborhood walks, regional food, cultural experiences, and time to explore at your own pace.
The goal is to create a vacation everyone can enjoy, with enough structure to bring the group together and enough flexibility to make it personal.
“Your time matters, and organizing a group vacation shouldn’t become another job. I bring the itinerary, reservations, and transportation details together so you can focus on the people you’re traveling with—and the stories you’ll bring home.”— Lori Crittenden, Lincoln-based Group Travel Specialist and owner of Saltwater Travel Company
Why Start Planning for 2027 Now?
Group travel involves several moving parts: agreeing on dates, choosing accommodations, coordinating transportation, and arranging experiences for people with different priorities.
Starting early gives us time to understand your group, review suitable options, and build the trip around your most important experiences. It also gives travelers time to request vacation days and plan their budgets.
For Oktoberfest, one of those priorities is often reserved seating together inside a festival tent.
Does Booking Now Guarantee Oktoberfest Tent Seats?
Booking your vacation now does not, by itself, guarantee a tent reservation. Reserved seating must be explicitly included and confirmed through the tent operator or your travel supplier.
Munich’s official Oktoberfest guidance notes that reservations are particularly helpful for groups. Without one, finding seats—or entering a full tent—can be difficult during busy periods. Each tent manages its own reservation process, and booking schedules vary. The published guidance currently covers 2026, so we should not assume the same release dates for 2027.
When planning your trip, I’ll help you understand whether tent seating is requested or confirmed, what is included, and which date and session apply.
The benefit of planning now is getting your group organized and making reserved tent seating a priority from the beginning. Any guarantee should come from the confirmed terms of your particular booking.
Make Munich Part of a Bigger European Adventure
Your Oktoberfest celebration could anchor several kinds of trips:
A Munich-centered getaway: Combine your festival visit with local dining, sightseeing, and time to explore.
An Oktoberfest and Alpine adventure: Consider pairing Munich with Salzburg, Innsbruck, or other stops that suit your schedule.
A river cruise with a Munich stay: Explore a suitable cruise itinerary and add Munich before or afterward, with transportation carefully coordinated.
A private brewery or tap house group: Build a trip around your community’s shared interests, with an itinerary designed for your travelers.
A cruise paired with Munich requires deliberate planning: the sailing dates, ports, and transfer arrangements all need to work with your Oktoberfest visit. I’ll help connect those details.
What If Someone in Your Group Isn’t a Beer Drinker?
That belongs in the planning conversation from the start.
We can include food experiences, history, sightseeing, shopping, and free time alongside brewery visits and your festival plans. Your group can share memorable moments without everyone needing to participate in every activity.
